This is a Hands-On Working Supervisor Position.
DESCRIPTION:
- Responsible for assisting the Plant Production Manager and Plant Supervisor with coordinating production efficiency, planning, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the production facility.
- Supervising general laborers, utility workers, and crane operators, as well as monitoring production to ensure efficient operation and anticipating what is needed to operate efficiently with minimal downtime.
- Assist in strong shift start-up, scheduling, staffing, and material set-up for processing with minimal downtime.
- Ensure correct skid packaging is in place.
- Ensure skids are organized efficiently to minimize delays and downtime.
- Work with the Quality Control Manager to assist with claims to include samples and pictures.
- Ensure that the area at the end of the line is clear and skids are loaded and moved out.
- Oversee scrap that needs to be weighed and write down the tare weight on the tag.
- Assist with training and operate when needed.
- Supervise the pushers, banders, utility men, and crane operators.
- Assist with keeping the wood stocked.
- Enforce plant safety awareness.
- Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities and champion to completion as needed.
- Assist with coordinating and collaborating with other departments as required, including production personnel and maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively involved in ensuring that employees work in a safe environment by monitoring how work is carried out and ensuring that the company adheres to local government safety and health regulations.
- Acts as the bridge between the Plant Manager and plant workers.
- Displays and demonstrates versatility, openness, maturity, neutrality, and confidentiality when dealing with employee relations to include grievances.
- Expected to identify tasks that need to be done (or are outstanding from the previous day) and communicate these tasks with the Plant Manager to implement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably steel/aluminum processing or assembly.
- Knowledge in production and technical aspects of materials machining is desirable.
- Ability to effectively work and collaborate with plant and office personnel, as well as management.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, Quality Processes and Procedures. (preferred)
