PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for the proper functioning of transport trailers (dry van or flatbed) and maintenance of the same. This will be a 2nd shift position starting @3:00 PM, M-F.

JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct scheduled inspections and checks of all transport trailer vehicles

• Regular servicing and maintenance of all transport trailer vehicles

• Maintaining a service record of all transport trailer vehicles

• Interaction with the vehicle drivers to know about the functionality and issues of the vehicle

• Replacing parts and conducting repairs and tire changes for the vehicles

• Appropriately using as well as handling testing tools and repair equipment

• Test driving transport trailer vehicles to ensure proper functioning

• Orders spare parts needed to repair equipment and creates purchase requisitions for parts and/or repairs.

• Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).

• Work with department wherever necessary

• Punctual and regular attendance is required.

• Able and willing to work any shift assigned.

• Keeps work areas clean and orderly.

• Participates in continuous improvement activities.

• Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2-3 years of experience and /or training are required. Trade/vocational school preferred.

Language Skills :

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills :

Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Business Judgment:

Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner. Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers

Required Experience

Technical Skills:

Ability to work with the following tools or machinery

• Valid Driver’s License (to operate company vehicle) and clean driving record
• Valid Hi-Lo License
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical fuel systems, and/or charging systems
• Knowledge of all DOT and Federal regulations pertaining to the operation of a commercial vehicle and transport trailer
• Computer literacy and ability to move through troubleshooting software
