  • Responsibilities

    Greenskeeper Primary Purpose: This position performs semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work on the golf course under the supervision of the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent. Essential Functions:

    1. Perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
    2. Weed tee surrounds and other turf areas.
    3. Plant bushes, shrubs, and other native plants.
    4. Edges, rakes, and maintains sand bunkers.
    5. Edge irrigation heads, basins, and around tee yardage markers.
    6. Hand raking leaves and other debris.
    7. Apply divot sand to tees and fairways on the golf course.
    8. Maintain teeing ground.
    9. Weed eating around light poles, bunkers, and satellite boxes.
    10. Pick up grass piles.
    11. Prep areas for sod and laying sod.
    12. Operates large mowers, tractors, and other light equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    13. Mow greens with walking greens mower.
    14. Mow greens, tees, and fairways with riding mower.
    15. Responsible for checking fluid levels before operating any machine.
    16. Responsible for reporting any abnormalities discovered while operating machinery to supervisor and mechanic.
    17. Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility, wash equipment at the end of each day.
    18. Clean restrooms and break room as assigned
    19. Must be able to service the golf course. These duties include changing green flags, putting cups, moving rope and barricades, and moving tee markers.
    20. Must be able to move directional fences.
    21. Must be able to drive turf vehicles and mowers.
    22. Helps in project work; assists in the construction and sodding/sprigging of new greens, tees, and fairways.
    23. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: • Present a positive, professional image. • Must be able to drive turf vehicles and mowers. • Working knowledge of and ability to use hand/power tools and equipment. • Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented. • Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills. • Reliable and predictable attendance. • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. • Possession of a valid driver’s license. • Previous experience and knowledge of grounds work. Physical Demands & Work Environment • Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk. • Ability to lift 50 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects. • The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
