An active, warm Boston family is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated part-time nanny to help care for their two energetic boys, ages 2 and 3 (almost 4), with occasional care of their infant daughter. The family is looking for someone who genuinely loves working with children and sees childcare as more than just a job. The right person will bring energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to the boys' days while taking ownership of their role without needing to be micromanaged.
Requirements
At least 21 years old
Non-smoker/vaper
CPR / First Aid certified
3+ years of relevant professional experience
A personal car is not required for the Boston position.The family frequently uses Uber when transportation is needed with the children. Travel expectations are limited.
Responsibilities
Taking over after school/daycare
Outdoor play and physical activity
Teaching and practicing sports skills, including: Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Golf
Reading with the boys
Preparing/assisting with dinner
Bath and bedtime routines (supporting Mom)
Keeping the boys engaged, happy, and active throughout the afternoon
Create engaging, age-appropriate activities that incorporate the children's interests into play
Spend plenty of time outdoors
Introduce new activities and experiences
Household responsibilities
Cleaning up after activities
Keeping children's spaces tidy
Cleaning up after meals
Helping maintain the common areas used during the day
Generally being proactive about keeping the home neat
About the Family
The family keeps a very clean and organized home and expects the nanny to naturally fit into that environment. Looking for someone who is enthusiastic about being helpful and naturally takes ownership of their environment. The expectation is primarily to "clean as you go”. The family has a home in Maine on a lake, approximately 2.5 hours from Boston, and would love to find someone who is game to join them for occasional weekends or a few overnights.
Ideal Candidate
The family is looking for someone brings genuine energy, excitement, and passion to childcare. The family wants someone who truly loves working with children. Dependable, follows through on commitments, and doesn't make excuses. The family wants someone who takes ownership and can be trusted to get the job done. Takes initiative without needing to be micromanaged. The family gives people autonomy to manage themselves and expects the nanny to be proactive about their responsibilities. Enjoys getting outside, playing sports, exploring, reading, and participating in the children’s activities.
They are hoping for a nanny with the right energy for the boys who is enthusiastic, engaged, and confident while also being calm and responsible. A background in sports, coaching, teaching, or athletic experience is particularly attractive for the afternoon role.
Spanish is a plus but not required. If you speak another language, the family would love for you to speak it with the children.
Position Details
Location: South End, Boston
Schedule: Monday-Friday 4:00pm-8:00pm (possibility of staying until 9:00pm is needed Mon-Thurs). 30hrs/week will be guaranteed. Option to earn additional hours & weekend opportunities at family’s second home in Maine
Start Date: ASAP
Hourly Rate: $37-40hr BOE; taxes withheld
