Operations Supervisor – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

Pay: $37/hour + bonus eligible
Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor oversees daily security operations in an ICE detention facility.
You will lead detention officers, ensure policies are followed, and make sure operations run safely and professionally. During your shift, you may serve as the senior operational authority responsible for the facility.
This role monitors staff performance, coordinates operations, and supports leadership in maintaining a safe and orderly environment for staff, detainees, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Supervision
- Supervise detention officers and assigned staff during shifts
- Ensure duties are performed according to policy, post orders, and ICE standards
- Coordinate daily operations including housing supervision, movement, and activities
- Provide direction, support, and guidance to staff
Safety and Security Oversight
- Monitor operations to ensure safety and accountability
- Inspect housing units, common areas, and facility operations
- Ensure counts, rounds, and security procedures are completed correctly
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, or disturbances
Incident Management
- Oversee staff response to incidents and ensure proper action is taken
- Prepare or review incident reports for accuracy and completeness
- Notify leadership of major issues or concerns
Staff Leadership and Development
- Coach, mentor, and support detention officers and staff
- Monitor performance and address issues or policy violations
- Support training and reinforce expectations for professionalism
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate shift reports and operational records
- Ensure logs and documentation are completed properly
- Communicate key information to leadership and incoming shifts
Professional Conduct
- Promote a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork
- Maintain professional interactions with staff, detainees, and partners
- Support a safe, ethical, and professional facility environment
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 3 years of experience in corrections, detention, law enforcement, military, or security
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience (preferably in corrections or detention)
- Ability to pass background investigation and security clearances
- Ability to complete required training
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Substitutions
- Relevant education (criminal justice, public administration, psychology, sociology, or related field) may substitute for up to 1 year of required experience
- Additional related professional experience may substitute for supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Ability to respond to emergencies and perform supervisory duties
