    Job Description

    Verisk 3E is looking for a Summer Intern to join our engineering team in Canton, OH.  We are looking for someone that can work full-time (40 hours per week) starting mid May through mid August.

    Primary responsibilities:

    • Develop programming logic as required to implement requested functionality with a high degree of quality and consistency.

    • Identify and implement appropriate design patterns to achieve the optimal implementation using SOLID design principles and practices that leads to loosely coupled code that can be easily maintained with a high degree of readability. This includes making appropriate technology recommendations for the developed implementations.

    • Perform testing on applications that are developed including the development of repeatable unit tests to ensure that the code continues to function as expected over time.

    • Create required technical and user documentation as needed to ensure that developed functionality is well understood. Communicate and collaborate with other departments to ensure proper deployment of standard and custom functionality.

    • Follow the SCRUM practices and collaborate and work effectively as a team to complete all development tasks.

    • Follow well-defined development processes to ensure the proper deployment of developed functionality into the expected environments.

    • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiency's. Shares acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • Attendance within an accredited four-year college or university pursuing a relevant a degree in Computer Science or related field or any equivalent combination of experience or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Demonstrates entry level knowledge of Microsoft .NET Technologies for Desktop or Web development including common web development frameworks or experience with equivalent technologies.
    • Understands relational database concepts
    • Ability to learn common development tools for Application Lifecycle Management and Source Control such as JIRA, GIT, ReSharper, and TeamCity.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of developers in a SCRUM based development environment.
    • Ability to maintain and be responsible for certain company equipment such as notebooks or thin clients.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and other staff.
