    About Armory Plumbing

Armory Plumbing Inc. is a growing, locally owned plumbing and heating company based in Lowell, MA. We’re building a company where skilled tradesmen are respected, customers receive quality workmanship, and employees have the opportunity to grow.

We’re not a large corporation with layers of management and unnecessary company politics. Armory Plumbing is a plumber-owned and operated company, and we understand what it takes to build a career in the trades.

We’re looking for a 5th Year Apprentice Plumber who is approaching their Massachusetts Journeyman license and is ready to take the next step in their career.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to grow into a leadership role — while still understanding that the best plumbers never stop learning.

    The Position

As a 5th Year Apprentice Plumber, you’ll work directly alongside our licensed Journeyman and Master Plumbers on residential and light commercial plumbing and heating projects.

We’re looking for someone who is confident enough to lead, humble enough to learn, and dependable enough to be counted on.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of your work, helping less-experienced apprentices develop their skills, and stepping up when your licensed plumber needs support.

At the same time, you’ll be expected to work as part of a team and take direction from the licensed plumbers you're working alongside.

Our goal is to help the right person transition from apprentice to licensed plumber and eventually become someone who can lead jobs, train others, communicate with customers, and represent Armory Plumbing in the field.

    What You'll Do

Work alongside licensed Journeyman and Master Plumbers on residential plumbing and heating projects

Assist with and perform plumbing installations, repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting

Install and repair piping, valves, fixtures, shutoffs, water heaters, boilers, and other plumbing equipment

Assist with boiler installations, repairs, and annual maintenance

Assist with tank and tankless water heater installations

Perform gas piping installations and repairs under appropriate supervision

    Perform drain cleaning and troubleshooting

Assist with water filtration and water treatment installations

Participate in residential remodeling and renovation plumbing

Read and interpret plumbing plans, drawings, and schematics

Diagnose plumbing problems and develop practical solutions with guidance from licensed plumbers

Communicate professionally with customers and explain basic work being performed

Maintain a clean and organized jobsite

Keep tools, equipment, and materials organized and properly maintained

Help train and guide less-experienced apprentices when appropriate

Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure they are completed correctly

Follow direction from licensed plumbers and ask questions when something is unclear

Follow Massachusetts plumbing and gas codes, including applicable 248 CMR requirements

Follow company safety procedures and maintain a professional jobsite

Participate in the seasonal on-call rotation as experience and licensing allow

The Type of Person We're Looking For

We’re not just looking for someone who has been in the trade for five years.

We’re looking for someone who acts like a future leader.

    The right candidate should:

Be approaching eligibility for their Massachusetts Journeyman Plumber license

    Take pride in their workmanship

Be dependable and show up ready to work

Be comfortable taking initiative without constantly being told what to do

Be willing to step up and lead when necessary

Be willing to take direction from licensed plumbers

Work well as part of a team

Be willing to teach and help less-experienced apprentices

Be willing to learn from more experienced plumbers

Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Understand that quality and doing the job correctly come before simply getting the job done

Communicate professionally with coworkers and customers

Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance

Have a positive attitude and willingness to improve

Understand that leadership means setting the example, not simply telling other people what to do

    Required Qualifications

5th Year Massachusetts Plumbing Apprentice or equivalent experience

Actively working toward Massachusetts Journeyman Plumber licensure

Solid understanding of residential plumbing systems

Ability to perform common plumbing installations and repairs with limited supervision

Strong understanding of plumbing tools, materials, fittings, and installation methods

    Strong communication and teamwork skills

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Ability to work professionally in occupied homes and residential environments

    Preferred Qualifications

Experience working directly with Journeyman and Master Plumbers

    Experience with residential service plumbing

    Boiler installation and service experience

    Water heater installation experience

    Gas fitting experience

    Drain cleaning experience

    Water treatment and filtration experience

    Residential remodeling experience

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Experience with ServiceTitan or similar field-management software

    Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly pay based on experience and skill level.

    Monday–Friday schedule

    Typical hours: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM

    Overtime opportunities available

    Seasonal on-call opportunities

    Massachusetts license renewal support

Opportunities for additional training and professional development

    Paid time off

Opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation as you obtain your Journeyman license and grow with the company

    Your Opportunity to Grow

This position is designed for someone who doesn't want to remain an apprentice forever.

If you're approaching your Journeyman license and want to build a career with a company where hard work, leadership, and skill are recognized, this could be a great opportunity.

We want to develop people who can eventually:

Apprentice → Licensed Journeyman → Lead Plumber → Senior/Leadership Role

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced licensed plumbers while developing the leadership, diagnostic, customer-service, and organizational skills needed to eventually run jobs yourself.

What It's Like Working at Armory

We believe good plumbers should be able to focus on doing good work, not dealing with unnecessary corporate politics.

You won't be treated like a number.

We expect our employees to be professional, accountable, willing to learn, and willing to help the people around them.

If you're a 5th year apprentice who is ready to step up, take ownership, earn your license, and become a leader in the trade, we want to hear from you.
