The company is seeking to hire a Chemical or Process Engineer with hands-on experience in chemical and bulk powder process environments. The successful candidate will own the responsibility of planning the daily operations of multiple chemical and powder production unit operations from lab to pilot scale, as well as developing new processes for the production of battery materials such as Lithium Iron Phosphate and Lithium Metal Oxide materials.

The Powder Process Engineer will work with product development scientists to refine processes for specific powder products and tailor the operations for new products. The new hire must possess a solid understanding and appreciation for chemical process/hardware interactions and the impact equipment configuration has on process outcomes. The ability to work independently in complex situations with a demonstrated track record of quickly learning new processes, equipment and integration schemes is expected.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for the efficient utilization of multiple laboratories spanning a variety of productions scales from R&D to pilot.
    • Ensure equipment uptime, utilization, throughput, and standardization.
    • In coordination with 6K scientists, define experiment parameters, execute experimental plans, and report results.
    • Define run schedules, technician assignment, and subsequent material analysis.
    • Develop a strong fundamental understanding of the production process parameters as applied to battery material synthesis to apply learnings across platforms.
    • Use statistical analysis to assess and report experimental results.
    • Develop, plan, and execute process engineering for the development of a broad range of specialty powder materials.
    • Identify new equipment and production processes to achieve product, quality, and throughput goals.
    • Operationally focused on improving processes and product quality, yields, cost, and performance.
