    We are looking for proactive, adaptable and motivated Telecom Planner with 5 years of experience working closely with project managers, analysts and other planners and will be responsible for supporting and processing complex technical projects associated with the extension of electric utility fiber-optic cable network throughout Southern California. These requests are for cost estimates, civil design plans, underground/aerial fiber optic route designs, required for new construction driven by new services for third party non-utility customers.

    Responsibilities:

    · Responsible for the engineering and design of new telecommunication cable routes for projects.

    · Develops estimates and prepares civil and traffic control drawings required for permitting and construction to extend the cable network.

    · Determines the scope of work, most efficient route design and construction methods for new overhead and underground facilities.

    · Order material, creates and issues construction job packages for civil, cable and splicing work performed by crews or external contractors.

    · Acquires permits and easements inclusive of Environmental, Traffic Control/Pedestrian Control, Encroachment, Street use, Excavation, Railroad, Flood Control, etc., and coordinating required project components with other internal departments, customers, governmental bodies, and various external sources.

    · Coordinate construction activities with municipalities, permitting agencies, Caltrans, BLM, National Forest and all associated stakeholders to ensure compliance and appropriate follow-through of policies, procedures, and completion dates applicable for assigned projects.

    · Ensure construction plans are compliant with all applicable standards and safe work practices related to overhead and underground construction safety.

    Qualifications:

    · Must have a minimum of 5 years combined experience in the areas of outside plant estimating, designing, engineering, and underground/overhead construction experience in Telecommunications, Transmission or Distribution.

    · Experience with AutoCAD/AUD, SPIDA and/or related design systems.

    · Demonstrated experience in determining the scope of work, using Google Earth, efficient route designs, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.

    · Demonstrated experience with developing estimates and preparing civil design plans for major or smaller projects.

    · Demonstrated experience with acquiring required permits, identifying environmental requirements and coordinating required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and various external sources.

    · Demonstrated experience with SCE’s pole loading tool and proficiency in the ability to review the pole loading work performed by contractors.

    · Demonstrated experience working with the following: joint pole and pole loading processes, construction standards, G.O.95 and 128 standards, and design and construction contractors.

    Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook and PowerPoint.
