Production Machine Operator

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Production Team Leader

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

This is a production position for a machine operator in food and beverage processing. Production Team Members are primarily responsible for preparing, mixing, cooking, juicing, bottling, and packing food and beverage products in full accordance with food safety guidelines and company SOPs. Production Team Members must maintain proper hygiene and sanitary conditions with the equipment and when handling all products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·       Washing, weighing, and cutting of raw produce

·       Using automated equipment with PLC controls (Bottle Filler, Rotary Filler, Capper, Labeler, Ink Jet. Etc.)

·       Packing finished products for shipping

·       Proper care and maintenance of facility equipment during production

·       Transferring raw produce from storage areas to production lines

·       Lifting/unloading products from shelves and bins (must be able to lift 25 lbs)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a facility with temperatures as low as 35 degrees F. Must come to work dressed appropriately: warm layers, thick socks, hat and gloves to be worn under food safety apparel, etc.  Slip-resistant and safety toe shoes are mandatory.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday with some Saturdays. Work schedules are updated weekly and are dependent on production schedules. Production Team Members may be scheduled to work 8-12 hours per day.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Experience in the food processing industry (preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Move/Lift up to 25lbs

• Stands most of the day

• Bend/Stoop/Position one’s self to clean

• Constantly works in cold room

• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment
