About the Internship

The internship at 9 Count is 12-weeks, between October 2021 and December 2021, during which you will be a member of the software engineering team, building the Wink app and its supporting systems. The internship is paid at $23 per hour, with an expected commitment of 15 to 20 hours per week. We will work with you to identify a prime project, which will be your responsibility to deliver by the end of the internship. Your prime project is built together with your mentor and potentially other team members. We want you to launch it successfully but, more importantly, have fun and learn a lot along the way.

About You

We're looking for undergraduate computer science students interested in applying their CS knowledge to build real-world, high-traffic mobile applications while working in a fast-paced startup. You will have interests in mobile development using Swift, Flutter, and Kotlin and backend development in Golang and Node on AWS. 

Even though we don't expect you to have expertise in all of the technologies we use, we want you to have proficiency in writing quality code in the programming environment where you're most confident. You have the patience and creativity to solve ambiguous technical problems drawing from your projects in your CS curriculum. And you think analytically, making informed decisions that favor the long-term solution over a hacky one. 

The candidates for this internship have strong leadership qualities. You're able to work collaboratively in a small-team setting as a contributor and a leader. You learn from mistakes, seeing them as opportunities to learn from and to help others. And you're curious about technology, product, marketing, business, and all subjects to improve yourself continuously. 

Responsibilities 

• Make great things - Develop technical designs and launch solutions that support new and existing capabilities of the product and its supporting systems.
• Make sure things work - Support the product by monitoring for and troubleshooting production or other environment issues.
• Make us better - Contribute to the software engineering tools and processes that help improve engineer happiness, development speed, and code quality.
• Make inventive things -Innovate by building novel solutions that improve the customer experience or internal systems.

Requirements 

• You're currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related major.
• Your expected graduation is 2022 (senior) or 2023 (junior). We will consider 2024 (sophomore) graduates with an academic recommendation.
• You're available to work for the entire internship duration (12 weeks) at our Marina Del Rey office. Subject to change based on COVID-19 restrictions.
• You're authorized to work in the U.S.
