WORDPRESS WEB DESIGNER/DEVELOPER

We are looking for a talented Web Designer/Developer to develop WordPress websites from scratch. The qualified candidate will work directly with our Senior Web Developer, Production Manager and design staff to create visually appealing websites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. We are looking to fill this position immediately.

The ideal candidate will be detail- and process-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. They will also understand the importance of maintaining high standards of quality/testing.

We are a long-established and stable marketing communications firm offering custom print, website and social media development, and other collateral for a wide variety of clients such as labor associations, law enforcement groups, entertainment companies, retailers, etc. Our top priority is the client’s satisfaction.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Develop WordPress websites for clients and internal projects
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Create sitemaps and wireframes with visual layout tools
• Convert design mockups and graphics to functional layouts and pages
• Build and maintain HTML based email marketing campaigns
• Help maintain custom plugin repository
• Troubleshoot and remedy defects, errors & bugs
• Perform regular WordPress software and plugin updates and perform backups
• Web content updates and maintenance

Skills:

• Ability to build WordPress sites from scratch, as well as using child themes, setting up custom-post types and plugins
• Proficient in handwritten HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery
• Experience with or basic understanding of Sass
• Ability to develop responsive websites
• Experience working with third-party APIs, through REST or SOAP interface
• Experience with PHP, MySQL and AJAX requests
• Experience in setting up and maintaining websites on LAMP stack
• Experience with managing DNS
• Strong UI/UX skills and understanding of Usability
• Experience with Git version control
• Knowledge and experience with Google Analytics and DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP)
• Experience with installing and configuring SSL Certificates
• Experience creating sitemaps, mock ups, prototypes and wireframes with visual layout tools
• Experience with cross-browser, platform, and device testing
• Proficient in building out e-newsletters and emails in HTML
• Proficient with the setup and implementation of e-commerce solutions (custom or third-party
• Experience with Genesis Framework for WordPress a plus
• Experience generating WordPress Blocks with ESNext is a plus
• Experience in SEO and SEM is a plus
• Experience in app development is a plus

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of web dev experience
• Degree in Graphic/Web/UI Design or equivalent work experience
• Able to consult on client project goals (technology stack, development workflow, QA process, deployment strategy, etc.)
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
• Highly motivated, creative and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Demonstrate strong organization skills, be detail-oriented with the ability to follow strict design standards
• Have excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Enthusiasm for keeping up with the latest in web technology trends
• Good understanding of online marketing principles and techniques
