FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
As a valued member of our team, the Financial Controller will manage the finance and accounting departments providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including the following; other duties may be assigned)

Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition for multiple companies
Support the Company’s development of an annual budget
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
Perform analytics to understand business trends and drive decision making
Oversee month-end close, including preparation of financials, reconciliation of bank accounts, and reclassifications to the general ledger
Coordinate periodic closing process and prepare supporting schedules and work papers for financial review and financial audits
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Monitor monthly expenditure against budgets and perform variance analysis
Manage audits of the business for the purpose of guaranteeing accuracy in reporting
Evaluate current policies and practices within the department and strive to drive continuous improvement, research, and analyses in all accounting matters
Establish and implement accounting procedures and policies in accordance with accounting principles and the state law of the business’s jurisdiction
Maintain knowledge and awareness across the finance department and ensure compliance with all state and local regulatory requirements
Identify projects as part of the continuous improvement program, including the utilization of technology and financial systems to streamline business processes
Provide strategic input and sound commercial support to the Senior Management Teams

Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred: Professional member of a certified accounting body (Chartered or CPA)
Preferred: Three to five years of experience as a Financial Controller
Solid technical skills in accounting and finance
Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to design and utilize effective spreadsheets
Ability to uphold the confidential nature of the position
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with others
Proactive, hands-on strategic thinking with solid problem solving skills
Preferred Education
MBA
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for managing the accounting department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position requires up to 20% travel.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
