SHIFT: 5x8 Hour Day

Shift, Monday – Sunday availability required.

Shift is flexible for 8am-5pm or 7am-4pm.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate will be expected to complete typical compliance for onsite workers for health care systems upon hire (including but not limited to providing updated TB, Flu Shot, physical, background check, drug screen, etc.) to meet UC San Diego Health HR and Joint Commission standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· Under supervision applies basic IT professional concepts, department / unit and campus / medical center / OP policies and procedures to resolve routine issues in one or more IT areas of specialization.

· Works on problems of limited scope.

· Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

· Under general supervision, abstract and compile data from SDIR. Utilize database software development such as MS Access, SQL, databases on Windows servers and desktops.

· Design, code, test, debug new queries or database components as well as make necessary changes to existing programs to meet project needs and challenges using MSAccess and SQL programming language.

· Design reports requested by users. Using languages (examples above) and tools to automate maintenance and other tasks.

· Co-develop, troubleshoot, and consult on new and existing web database applications that support critical project functions, such as web-based in-and-out board or immunization resource database. Actively participate as a key member of SDIR team by designing, implementing, and documenting data management and data capturing procedures.

· Maintain applications to view and analyze information.

· Use initiative and vision to create innovative ideas and approaches to enhance techniques used to realize the project's objectives.

· Assist with statistical analyses when appropriate and prepare written materials related to study data and analysis.

· Frequently interact with users and project teams to establish system specifications and resolve issues inherent when requirements are derived from non-technical users, both within and outside the organization.

· The programmer works with a small group of technical and non-technical staff, as well as external contractors who provide project-specific programming support.

· Use exceptional communication and documentation skills to contribute within cross-functional project staff.

· Participate in planning, testing, implementing and troubleshooting of HL7 interfaces and develop documentation, protocols and procedures.

· Participate in all phases of testing SDIR application upgrades.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. • 2 years of experience in similar role.

· Basic knowledge relating to the design and development of software.

· Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience with Structured Query Language, and advanced internal manipulations of databases

· Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot basic problems with computing devices, peripherals and software.

· Basic understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.

· Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in managing and creating complex relational database models related to research data

· Basic understanding of data management operations and database administration

· Basic knowledge of computer security best practices and policies. Ability to put knowledge into practice

· Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner

· Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

· Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner

· Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.

· Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· BS degree in Computer Science, or comparable combination of education and experience • Working knowledge of immunizations and San Diego Immunization Registry.
