    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    Graphic Packaging is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager, International Freight to support ongoing growth in export and import logistics department. This candidate is responsible for collaborating with GPI’s internal and external global customers, freight forwarders, warehouse providers, intermodal providers and ocean freight liners to understand demand and source capacity to support operational growth.  Key responsibilities include procurement of International Freight and global network optimization  along with implementing strategic initiatives to ensure supply continuity.

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following:

    • Accountable for sourcing and procurement of $50 Million International Logistics portfolio consisting of Dray and Ocean Freight providers, shipping approximately 480,000 tons of paperboard distribution globally to Europe, Oceania, Asia, Latin America Markets.
    • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure sourcing results aligns with Supply Chain’s strategy, delivering freight at optimal lead times and fair market costs
    • Manages and conducts procurement lifecycle from data gathering, analysis, awards, contract negotiations, operational implementation, route guide compliance to vendor payment.
    • Source, procure, negotiate, and onboard appropriate logistics service providers to support business unit and plant operations by region/country taking into consideration new distribution channels and end to end cost. Provides business units and finance with updates on procurement changes, financial impact, lead time impact, capacity availability, etc.
    • Manages the export rates and freight payment vendor ensuring invoices are audited and processed on time, in full. Collaborates with vendors on disputes and strives for timely and appropriate reconciliation of account statements.
    • Manages and enforces route guide compliance. Works with operations team to understand operational issues and limitations to utilizing carrier awards. Strives to find solution that makes operational and financial sense for teams.
    • Develops relationships with internal customers especially regional logistics procurement managers to optimally tap into expertise across the organization
    • Develop standard KPIs and SLAs along with a business review format and common scorecard to evaluate suppliers ongoing performance
    • Understand market trends and regulation changes that may affect our business operations and communicate impacts proactively; Maintains regular communication with the Business Leaders and regions to understand business conditions and market trends to ensure supply meets operation’s demand accordingly.
    • Stays informed of any changes or updates in laws and regulations at the International, National, State and Local levels to provide and support with vital information for the team. So they can maintain and understand legal concepts that govern their activities as agents of their employers and of the various laws that govern the purchase and sale of goods and services. (eg.     • Provides support in capability development Process improvements, Systems & tools for better future
    • Assists in building Analysis, Dashboards, Control towers for International shipments
    • Manages the stakeholder communication and alignment to eliminate noise in the system

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • 5-7 + years of international logistics experience.
    • Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management experience
    • International Logistics experience
    • Logistics Management System background with specific focus on warehousing and ocean freight.

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Bachelor's Degree required, preferred Supply Chain/Business; Masters preferred
    • Negotiating skills; intermediate or advanced Analytical ability (vlook ups, pivot tables, tableau)
    • Networking and Relationships Management – Build internal and External Relationships
    • Organizational agility: know how to get things done in a large company.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong systems aptitude and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel.
    • Advanced computer skills including ERP and TMS applications (e.g., SAP, JDE, etc.) Is a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under deadlines
