POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for the supervision and performance of the machine shop and Product Development Center (PDC) specific manufacturing data in SAP. Primary duties include the supervision of 5-8 machine shop personnel and planning, scheduling, and managing of production work.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a safe work environment; provide leadership for safety improvement initiatives, maintain all safety training programs and ensure timely and accurate completion of all training requirements.
- Supervise the personnel in the Machine Shop and CNC programmer.
- Maintain and process manufacturing data in SAP for PDC system.
- Creating Routings specific to PDC shop
- Manage data in SAP: work centers, standard operation data
- Assist with Drawing checks
- Machine Shop Operations, Maintenance, maintain shop and fabrication procedures coordinating with Crosby, MN facility.
- Assisting Production Control with Make/Buy decisions and other functions as needed.
- Answering questions from outside vendors on parts manufacturing.
- Maintain system for tool calibration for ISO certification.
- Initiate ongoing continuous improvement projects and ensure their completion.
- Efficiently schedule (load) shop to maximize machine and manpower usage.
- Responsible for tooling specification and purchases.
- Develop and monitor the performance of the yearly budget.
- Participate in capital equipment justification and purchases.
- Institute and maintain training programs to accelerate employee growth.
- Special projects as assigned.
DESIRED BACKGROUND:
- Three to five years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to manage a machine shop, cost effectively, in a rapid-paced operation.
- Up-to-date manufacturing practices and methods (CNC, additive manufacturing).
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials to include metals, plastics, etc.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Clearly and comfortably delegates both routine and important tasks and decisions. Broadly shares both responsibility and accountability.
- Can marshal resources (people, materials, support) to get things done. Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal. Uses resources effectively and efficiently. Keeps information organized.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum requirement is a high school diploma.
