  • Responsibilities

    The Utility Packer (UP) is responsible for assisting cup packers by ensuring all proper labels and boxes are readily available for each print. The UP is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of the entire work area throughout the shift and assisting other employees as necessary. The UP will properly maintain written reports and label, stamp, and assemble boxes as needed. The UP will communicate with cup packers of upcoming print changes and any deviations in a timely manner The UP is responsible for checking all labels, boxes, and spec sheet for accuracy. The UP is also responsible for relieving all cup packers of their scheduled breaks and lunches. Additionally, UP must ensure all cup packers are using the proper labels and boxes at shift change. The UP is also responsible for repacking damaged cases and returning all unused boxes to the warehouse. All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles.

    Required Skills

    • Must be able to stand/walk on concrete for long periods of time with scheduled breaks
    • Must be able to lift/lower 10 pounds; this includes empty boxes, bags of cups, labels, etc...
    • Must be able to carry 10 pounds approximately 30 feet; the average distance is 5 - 10 feet when UP relieves cup packers on their breaks and lunch.
    • Must have the ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment
    • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Must be able to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime as required
    • Manufacturing experience of 1-2 years preferred
    • Overtime will be required as necessary including weekends. Graphic Packaging International operates on a 24 hour, 7 day/week basis
    • Must be able to climb a flight of metal steps leading up to an area with boxes and other materials needed to supply cup packer. This occurs occasionally throughout the shift
    • Must be able to bend forward of up to 90 degrees for a brief period of time. The majority of bending performed, however, is slight forward bend.
