Operational Accountant (A/R) - HYBRID - TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS ONSITE Our client, a food manufacturer in Midtown Manhattan, has a great 3-to-4-month contract opportunity with the potential of becoming permanent for the right candidate. The Controller is looking for a strategic eye and tactical professional who can research and identify rebates, chargebacks, and short pay components of AR which are not being accounted for and then strategize on process improvements to alleviate the gaps to better manage balance sheet and be sure P&L is accurate. Working directly under the Controller, this role requires strong experienced accounting analysts who will play an integral part in assessing the accuracy of balance sheet and overall P&L. This requires a Project driven analytic thinker with accounting/ finance background and a fundamental understanding of GAAP. Will be responsible for auditing current operational AR procedures, uncovering and identifying reasons for AR discrepancies (determining accuracy of accruals) to make recommendations for the AR process by identifying areas of performance improvement. Keys To Role: • Build strong rapport and develop internal relationships with Operations and Sales, this role will require strong interpersonal skills and heavy interaction within these areas to research and uncover AR deductions, chargebacks, short pays, and rebates. • Relationship building with key internal operational stakeholders (sales, warehouse, inventory) critical to successful launch of process improvements. • Ideal candidate will have strong consumer products background, heavy analytical skills both tactical and strategic. • Research short pays/ bill back (rebates), Chargeback, deductions and or customer issued credits. Essential duties will be to analyze deductions, determine root cause (damages, short inventory upon delivery, rebate, coupon, sales credit, etc). They have 1,000s of SKU's and pricing points arranged with products and customer contracts requiring deep dive into uncovering billbacks/ deductions. • Strong technical skills ESSENTIAL to mine data using their 3 systems: their G/L system (Great Plains), a home-grown Order to Cash platform, and High Radius application. This requires looking at these systems as modules requiring a system savvy eye to mine through the data to be able to generate findings. The use of ACCESS and or any other data mining/software agents is highly desirable.
