    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

     

    This role leads the company’s planning and execution of strategies to increase sales and company growth through a variety of channels.   

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

     

    • Contribute to the development and refinement of Company's strategy
    • Collaborative creation of a business development roadmap strategy congruent with company's overall strategic objectives
    • Establish a strategic vision and perspective for assigned customers, effectively managing complexity in the marketplace, developing strategically aligned partnerships with assigned customers,
    • Identify, source, and implement new business opportunities in the areas of new and adjacent markets, strategic partnerships and alliances, merger and acquisition opportunities, product expansions and adjacencies.
    • Support the overall process of management and division decision-making to ensure the organization maximizes its short, medium and long-term revenue, profitability and shareholder returns
    • Provide leadership through creative and innovative customer approaches and utilizing business & financial acumen to deliver assigned revenue & profit goals within assigned spend.
    • Impact the profitability of the company through strategic and tactical management decisions that generate new business development opportunities, incremental growth, and strategic partnerships and opportunities that lead to increased revenues and profits
    • Identify, source, and implement new business opportunities in the areas of new and adjacent markets, strategic partnerships and alliances, merger and acquisition opportunities, product expansions and adjacencies, and international expansion
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management to assess marketing opportunities and target markets, gather intelligence on customers and competitors, and develop and refine competitor and market analysis
    • Work with executive leadership on the implementation and realization of the company's strategic and operational plans
    • Other duties as assigned

    • 15-20 years’ experience in similar role
    • Exceptional ability to assess markets, understanding the competitive, customer and supplier landscape and visualize and recommend opportunities
    • Demonstrated ability to champion and lead strategic projects and achieve organizational results through people. Ability to develop solutions that yield demonstrable results and maintain and project credibility in order to mobilize resources and enlist support
    • Track record of successfully launching new business, products, and/or programs in conjunction with outside partners through strategic partnerships
    • Leadership, results and solution-orientation while excelling at relationship building and influencing
    • Exceptional ability to assess markets, understanding the competitive, customer and supplier landscape and visualize and recommend opportunities
    • Ability to document executive summaries, detailed business case analysis and project/program plans
    • Exceptional organizational, prioritization and follow-up skills
    • Ability to deal effectively with senior executives both internally and outside the company.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, decision and making skills.
    • Advanced skills in use of basic software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Cognos, and syndicated data
    • Strong knowledge of perishable supply chain logistics, integrated account management and basic qualitative and quantitative consumer needs analysis

    EXTERNAL INTERACTION

    • Account Leadership/Buying Groups – selling the Dole concepts to secure and grow profitable business
    • Account Quality Control – discussing quality control issues of our products
    • Account Supply Chain – able to work with customer supply chain logistics departments to deal with all supply chain topics
    • Account AP Department – to ensure proper payment of Dole invoices per Dole payment terms
    • Account Negotiation Group – ability to have negotiation interaction of short and long term contracts

    INTERNAL INTERACTION

    • Value Added Leadership – allows for business planning and P&L discussions
    • Value Added Finance – discussions around payment terms, financial proforma models, customer profitability reports
    • Marketing – Ability to discuss new item creation opportunities as well as programs to drive sales of established programs working closely with national and shopper marketing teams
    • Category Development – working collaboratively with the category development team to understand sales trends of the customer and build strategic sales growth plans based on the analysis
    • Supply Chain – establish supply chain logistic parameters that meet the standards of Dole and the customer
    • Quality Control – reporting of quality or food safety issues between the customer and Dole

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

     

    • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Business Management/Sales or a minimum of 15 years business management experience
