    Job Description

    AAFCPAs is seeking a Tax Consulting and Compliance Staff to join our growing regional accounting firm.  As a member of our Tax team, the Tax Consulting and Compliance Staff will provide consulting and research services to complement our practice as well as the preparation of various tax returns.  In this position, you will be a valuable member of our tax engagement teams that will provide and assist across a variety of tax services that are relevant for individuals, estates, trusts, partnerships, nonprofits, and corporations. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with other members of the firm to properly advise individuals, businesses, trusts, and nonprofits on various federal, state, local, and foreign tax-related issues
    • Execute project-related tax research and analysis based on Federal and State tax laws
    • Research and understand the consequences of new and updated federal and state tax laws that affect the client
    • Maintain the tax records and keep up with all filing deadlines related to taxes for clients
    • Understand the information provided by the client and devise strategies to solve any financial issue that might arise
    • Work to develop a comprehensive approach to and understanding of the client's business and its needs
    • Execute strategic tax planning based on information provided by clients;
    • Prepare various tax forms, including but not limited to trust, gift, estate, and nonprofit returns
    • Develop an understanding of the nature of work, understand and differentiate between compilations, reviews, audits, tax planning and compliance, and management advisory services
    • Complete specific assignments under supervision in a technically competent manner within the allotted time
    • Develop an understanding of the collaboration between the tax team and other departments within the firm including assurance, management advisory services, wealth management, and business and information technology consulting
    • Develop proficient organizational skills using automation – MS Office suite, paperless work papers, time and billing system, tax return software, etc
    • Develop personal and professional goals and periodically re-evaluate them and measure progress.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree, Master's Degree, JD, or MST a plus
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel & Word
    • Proven time management and prioritization skills
    • Excellent relationship-building skills
    • Naturally team-oriented and a team player
    • Excellent research and writing skills
    • Excellent presentation skills
