    Job Description

    AAFCPAs is looking for an innovative Cybersecurity Intern. We are seeking someone with exceptional attention to detail, time management, strong communication skills, and exposure to cybersecurity principles and tools, with the ability to work both remotely and in a team environment. You will learn how to assess infrastructure and systems for IT General Control (ITGC) assessments, as well as use various security tools to assist clients with identifying and making recommendations on existing vulnerabilities for clients of the firm.

    Students have the opportunity to work with a variety of systems, from traditional office applications to sophisticated security systems, networking, web, and other technologies. It is a fast-paced environment that affords the right candidate unique opportunities and challenges while being exposed to a variety of technologies and applications.

    This will be an 8-10 week FT (40 hrs.) summer internship program with possibility to continue in the fall.

    RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

    • Assistance with the upkeep of the information security tools and applications.
    • Review and update documentation for policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
    • Planning, research, and technical design for security solutions in support of strategic security plans.
    • Perform or assist with vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and security assessments.
    • Provide input into improving information security reporting and metrics.
    • Follow established standards to document workpapers in support of engagements.
    • Participate in interviews of key control and process owners.
    • Verify adherence to policies, standard operating procedures, applicable regulations, and laws.
    • Document audit findings and formulate basic recommendations for improvement.
    • Assist in the preparation of audit reports.
    • Assist with engagements that assess the design and operating effectiveness of IT processes and controls to meet client objectives, including alignment with frameworks and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related discipline.
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA
    • Basic understanding of scripting and/or computer networks.
    • Ability to troubleshoot problems and work with team members to find solutions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrate motivation to identify and solve problems and exercise sound judgment.
    • Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects; must be able to keep the information confidential.
    • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles, tools, and devices.
    • Self-motivated, excited about learning, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment characterized by open sharing of feedback to achieve optimum outcomes.
    • Critical Thinking: thoughtful process of analyzing data and problem-solving data to reach a well-reasoned solution.
    • Knowledge in one or more of the following: Java, Python, XML, HTML, C#, Objective C, database design & development including SQL.
    • Strong computer and technical skills including Windows, Active Directory, and networking.
    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook).
    • Working knowledge of cloud hosting providers (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Amazon) is a plus, but not required.
