    Join us in building a better future with us as a FOOD QUALITY ASSURANCE REGULATORY SPECIALIST. The Food Quality Assurance Regulatory Specialist is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality at AAK Richmond, CA through the administration of Food Safety programs and documentation, including but not limited to procedures, work instructions, and records that describe and document the operations of the facility, conducting formal monthly audits, and leading the Food Safety Committee

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensures that the Quality Manual and Quality Library remain current and reflect actual work practices.

      • Updates procedures, work instructions, and records when changes are made in the facility.
      • Updates procedures, work instructions, and records when Production, Quality, the Quality Manager, or any other job function identifies an opportunity for improvement.
      • Writes training materials to facilitate training on changes.
      • Updates and upgrades the food safety auditing scheme when necessary.
    • Ensures food safety and quality:

      • Maintains and updates the HACCP plan for all production lines. Lead the HACCP team.
      • Performs formal monthly food safety audits and informal continuous audits of the entire facility and assign and monitor corrective actions.
      • Performs formal monthly glass and brittle plastic audits and informal continuous audits of the entire facility and assign and monitor corrective actions.
      • Ensures that all incoming packaging liners, super sacs, stretch wrap, and top sheets meet specifications. Reject non-conforming material.
    • Maintains documentation for third-party audits.

      • Ensures that relevant personnel are informed of audits and request their presence.
      • Ensures that the facility is ready for inspection. Pre-audit meeting, inspection and review for each audit.
      • Prepares documentation and presentations for auditors, facilitating tours of the facility and answer questions.  Develop pre-audit packet for all AAK Richmond, CA auditors.
      • Provides documents in the Quality Manual and Quality Library for review.
    • Acts as chairperson of the Food Safety Committee, which is an internal food safety auditing program:

      • Sets the yearly schedule of audits and update yearly paperwork.
      • Leads monthly meetings.
      • Sends out monthly audits for completion.
      • Completes monthly audits as assigned.
      • Follows up on corrective actions taken.
    • Responds to customer requests for information

      • Fills out and returns customer-supplied forms to Customer Service along with requested documents.
      • Works with document specialist on customer portal.
      • Updates and maintain ICIX.
    • Participates in Production, Quality, or R&D projects. Ensure personal and food safety throughout.

    • Other functions as needed by Production, Quality, or other departments.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required: 

    • Engineering, Science, or food science degree, or 5+ years’ work experience in a food manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge of food manufacturing
    • FSMA and food safety/HACCP audit experience
    • Strong writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with management, customers, and other co-workers
    • Knowledge of word documents, spreadsheets, and e-mail
    • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without sponsorship, now and in the future
    • PCQI Certification a plus
