    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Primarily responsible for preparing financial statements for community associations.  Provides general accounting support for community managers and boards which includes financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, cash management, and efficiency improvements.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares and reviews the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
    • Reconciles general ledger accounts.
    • Reconciles bank accounts and provides banking support for communities.
    • Participates in peer review of monthly financial statements for cash basis communities.
    • Researches and collects information regarding communities for accounting purposes.
    • Partners with Community Managers/Developers to establish community budgets.
    • Prepares subsidy (deficit) funding requests for developer communities.
    • Partners with Accounting Management to develop systems and controls ensuring compliance with state laws and community standards.
    • Attends meetings as required to provide accounting assistance to community boards and committees per current portfolio assignments.
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Understand accounting functions and processes.
    • Able to organize and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a minimum level of supervision.
    • Computer proficiency, including Excel at an intermediate level.
    • Able to function and contribute in a team-oriented atmosphere.
    • Ability to present accounting information at association board meetings as needed.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Sitting at work station in an office environment utilizing the computer.
    • Capable of working extended hours including evenings or weekends as necessary.

    Qualifications

    Education

    PREFERRED

    Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field.

    Experience

    REQUIRED

    1 YEAR: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and one (1) year of experience in accounting as a Staff Accountant, Bookkeeper, Property Accountant, Full Cycle Accountant, or similar role which includes exposure to GL accounting, preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, and financial analysis. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience can be substituted for the minimum requirements on a year-for-year basis.

    PREFERRED

    3 YEARS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and three (3) years of experience in accounting within an HOA/Property Management environment. Experience working with VMS (Village Management Software) is strongly preferred.
