Summary of Job Responsibilities
Job Description
- Proficiency in the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory codes at the country, state, and federal levels for electrical equipment maintenance.
- Execution of rigging activities, safety-related functions, and miscellaneous electrical tasks.
- Demonstrating skilled and safe utilization of both hand and power tools in the workshop.
- Displaying mechanical expertise.
- Competency in programming Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s).
- Capability to safely operate a forklift and manlift.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
- Physical ability to work at heights using ladders, scaffolds, and roofs for electrical wiring, equipment, and fixture installation, maintenance, or repair.
- Skilled in testing electrical systems and ensuring circuit continuity in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures through the use of testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, in order to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Performing duties in a work environment characterized by high temperatures, low temperatures, dirtiness, and fast-paced operations.
- Being a self-starter while also being able to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with machine operators and set up personnel for equipment troubleshooting.
- Completion of additional tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
Hold a valid journeyperson electrical card for at least four years or provide documentation of at least 8 years of relevant job experience on company letterhead.
Possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
Hold a certified journeyperson’s card (or similar contractual Journeyperson status) or provide documentation of at least 8 years of experience in a specific trade from previous employers on company letterhead.
Be available for overtime and have a flexible schedule as required by the union facility agreement.
Be available to work any shift as required.
Pass a pre-employment physical examination, including drug testing.
