    The Bioskills Lab Coordinator is an integral part of the OLC Education & Conference Center (OLC) team. The OLC is a facility dedicated to the furtherance of medical education for physicians and other health care providers in the field of orthopaedics and other medical specialties to enhance the quality of patient care. The OLC is a 501c3 organization of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS) that shares a common Board and staffing model and the OLC works collaboratively across the organizations to deliver and support medical high-quality learning experiences that include cadaveric skills training, lectures, and other in-person and virtual learning modalities along with other non-medical events. 

    The OLC Bioskills Lab Coordinator oversees client bio skills labs to ensure all lab events are executed safely and expertly based on client needs. Works closely with clients, staff, and industry partners to meet the course/event objective. 

    • Multiple planning meeting with clients 
    • Order appropriate equipment needed for course  
    • Make sure appropriate specimen have arrived for course  
    • Work with science care confirm to specimen steward start times  
    • Make sure lab is set up appropriately  
    • Constantly monitoring innovation in client’s area of specialty; Orthopaedic, Thoracic, Podiatry, and any other new client specialties.

    Lab Duties:  

    Work with clients once they are confirmed  

    • Confer with clients about specimen’s positioning/day of lab rotations. 
    • Ensure specimen provider provides all appropriate paperwork for said specimens and drop off/pickup times and schedules  
    • Ensure all required equipment for lab has been ordered  
    • Execute lab/course day of  
    • Debrief meeting with clients and OLC Team
    • Following each lab manually clean and check certain equipment and then send it off to repair if necessary
    • Manage all PPE needs for all courses including sourcing for best price and fulfillment from suppliers and tracking PPE use by item for all clients
    • Manage upwards of 20+ industry partners to ensure specific instruments and equipment has been requested for each lab based on the course requirements.
    • Solicit donations from vendors to lower variable costs for not-for-profit clients.
    • Manage OLC staff and specialized contractor during courses
    • Train new staff on OLC lab processes and procedures.
    • Provide innovative direction to clients to grow their courses and gain additional industry support.
    • Manage specialized demos during courses
    • Use prudent expense management for clients and the OLC

     

    Operations Duties: 

    Provide building security and building engineers daily list of clients that will be onsite

    • Manages the OLC’S filters in the engineer room – replace all filters as needed
    • Responsible for scheduling PM’S on all OLC equipment: C-arms,  Hanna table, Specimen Cooler, Belimed washers, Hobart washers

    TRAVEL:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED:

    • Ability to work every day of the week  
    • Ability to work a variety of hours (early starts/late end times) 
    • Ability to participate in evening or early morning conference calls  
    • Knowledge in human tissue and basic anatomy 
    • 3+ years of cadaver lab experience 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
    • Ability to multi-task 
    • Ability to keep composure in crisis situations. 
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office 
    • Ability to lift heavy items, 50 lbs. 
    • Knowledge in healthcare related instruments/equipment  
    • Proficient in OSHA compliance and safety regulation 
    • Comfortable with public speaking

    Please note: 

    This position is based in Rosemont, Illinois and is open to applicants who are able to commute to this office.
