JOB TITLE: PLAYGROUND DESIGNER, MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
DEPARTMENT: Design Team
REPORTS TO: CFO and COO
PAY STRUCTURE: Negotiable - hourly/salaried
BENEFITS: Negotiable
FLSA STATUS: If hourly – non-exempt. If salaried – exempt.
THIS IS A NEW POSITION.
PURPOSE: Serves internal and external customers by designing composite play structures and playground layouts based on customer requirements. Prepare 3D renderings, fly throughs, presentation boards and proposal materials. Design and prepare targeted presentations for sales representatives. Strategize marketing efforts with leadership and execute decided marketing plans including design of materials or working with external agency for execution of marketing efforts.
THE CHOSEN CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION WILL PROVIDE ONGOING CREATIVITY AND EFFORT TOWARDS OUR BRAND AWARENESS, GENERAL MARKETING CAMPAIGNS, AND TARGETED CAMPAIGNS; A WILLINGNESS TO LEARN; STUDY; ATTEND TRAINING IF NECESSARY AND DO ONLINE INSTRUCTION TO ACCOMPLISH THE REQUIRED DUTIES OF THE POSITION.

· CREATIVE DESIGN
Create playground designs that inspire movement, growth, development and fun! Using proprietary design software, prepare playground layout drawings, site plans and footing drawings that meet current playground safety guidelines and bring the best in play design to the communities we serve.

You’ll be collaborating with our sales team and with our customers to achieve our mission of Creating the Perfect Park and Playground.

QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE HELPFUL
· Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Design or Mechanical Design from an accredited program OR Associate’s degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years related experience.
· High self-initiative, excellent communication skills and presentation skills.
· Ability to demonstrate creative style and communicate designs to a variety of stakeholders.
· Command of AutoCAD 2008 or higher, 3D rendering software, Rhino, Sketchup, others.
· Ability to learn and master proprietary playground design software.
· Strong organizational and follow up skills, ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail. Ours is a fast paced and demanding environment that is also very rewarding.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
PREPARE 2D AND 3D PRESENTATIONS FOR SALES PROPOSALS:
• Utilize EZ Design MAX proprietary software to
• Design play structures using pre-designed blocks
• Generate sales proposals
• Use AutoCAD to develop site plans for EZ Design MAX converter as needed
• Use Rhino and other 3D modeling software. (Because this is a new position, specific software will be discussed and decided upon with the chosen candidate).
• PC or MAC work platform is yet to be decided. (Because this is a new position, work platform will be discussed and decided upon with the chosen candidate).
• Generates proposal output packages based on customer site, budget restrictions and safety standards
• Use Powerpoint to create Proposals and Presentations
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of the current playground safety guidelines (ADAAG, ASTM, CPSC, IPEMA)
• Use of creativity and imagination to incorporate components from all represented manufacturers
• Preparing and evaluating playground design layouts based on factors such as appearance, design-function relationships, budget, market characteristics and specifications from the Sales Reps or external customers
SPECIFIC DUTIES OUTLINE:
INTERNAL:
· Playground layout and design. Study RFP/RFQ when supplied. Learn project facts and specifications. Develop design appropriately. Make site visits if needed.
· Prepare project specific proposals (PowerPoint). Collect all needed assets from manufacturers and prepare proposal within designated timeframe.
· 3D Renderings of play structures, shade structures and sites. (CAD, Rhino and 3D software)
· Prepare presentation boards. Design and develop boards (InDesign and accompanying software). Print and prepare boards for presentation.
· Take raw video and create marketing videos that can be posted to website, Youtube, etc.
· Utilize web tools to keep website content up to date and fresh.
· Create PowerPoint and video presentations for reps.
TRADITIONAL GRAPHIC DESIGN/MARKETING:
Engage in traditional graphic design work for
o Direct mail campaigns and specific sales rep support.
o Publication and tradeshow advertising.
o Tradeshow displays and presentations.
EXTERNAL:
· Work with external marketing -
o Publication articles. Stay informed of current public interests within our field and create ideas for articles that can be submitted for publication. Create article outlines and gather appropriate photos. This is an ongoing part of our brand awareness campaign for ABcreative.
o Email campaign. Stay informed of current customer interests and how they align with specific products of our represented manufacturers. Plan and schedule an annual email campaign that aligns with interests for different times of year. Create outlines, gather appropriate photos and provide assistance to keep email campaign on track.
OTHER:
· Keep inventory of manufacturer catalogs and order as needed for office and exterior sales reps.
COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY WITH SALES REPS BY
• Being articulate & friendly
• Using proper phone etiquette and e-mail communication to resolve issues and answer questions that arise in regards to the Reps specifications and requests
CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT BY
• Performing other duties as assigned
