    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for performing routine work in preparing and serving food and clean-up activities under the direct supervision of the Chef.  Additionally, it is required to ensure that quality, presentation, safety and cleanliness are always adhered to, and that menu items are produced in an efficient and consistent manner for clients and residents of A.B.C. Recovery Center, Inc. (Center)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with the preparation and production of daily menu items, ensuring quality and presentation.
    • Ability to modify menu items due to diet restrictions and food allergies.
    • Maintains a clean and sanitary working area and completes all necessary cleaning and dishwashing procedures needed to maintain a safe and sanitary working environment.
    • Responsible for keeping the kitchen equipment, dining room, storage areas, and supplies clean and organized.
    • Assist with stocking and counting inventory as needed.
    • Substitute in the Chef’s absence when needed and be capable and confident to complete the daily menu during that time.
    • Be aware of and always follow safe food handling procedures.
    • Maintains accurate reporting of work hours in the record keeping system and submit accurate and timely personnel information as needed.
    • Maintain client confidentiality as well as protecting client health information per HIPAA regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be minimum of 18 years old and have either a High School diploma or GED
    • Must have valid Riverside County Food Handlers card
    • Must have and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of kitchen/cooking experience in a busy atmosphere
    • Must have a valid driver’s license_ and_ proof of insurance
    • Must have a flexible schedule and ability to work nights, weekends, or holidays on occasion

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • BS degree in Culinary or related certification
    • Experience working in a clinical environment

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • 3 years’ of kitchen/cooking experience working in a care facility, homeless facility, or buffet/catering style environment.
    • 1 Year cooking experience is a Substance Abuse facility is preferred.

    Physical: This is a physically demanding position; you must be capable and comfortable with a high level of motor movement throughout the day to work in a kitchen setting. Demands of this position can INCLUDE standing for prolonged periods of time, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 50 pounds).  Additionally, this position requires you to be able to operate kitchen equipment which requires repetitive movement.

    Vision: Close, distant, and peripheral vision ability, including depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Hearing: Hear normal audio range with or without correction. 

    Environment: this position works in a health care environment, and may be exposed to bodily fluids, odors and cleaning products on an occasional basis. Additionally, this position is subject to frequent interruptions and extensive client interaction and must be comfortable working in a kitchen environment.
