We provide over 400 services to our clients annually assisting them to bring value and purpose to their lives as they re-start their individual/family lives in the United States.

    POSITION: REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT CASE MANAGER

    AJAPO is seeking to hire a Refugee Resettlement Case Manager who will support the efforts of the Refugee Resettlement Team in welcoming and providing services to new refugees who are resettling in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

    AJAPO is seeking for a motivated, energetic, hard working team player who will serve as the first point of contact for newly arriving refugees, hence an ambassador for the agency through your high quality presence, services and welcome.

    Major Responsibilities:

    The Refugee Resettlement Case Manager is responsible for providing services for 90 days to each assigned arriving refugee family/individuals from pre-arrival to the end of the 90 days resettlement in the United States. The Refugee Resettlement Case Manager will work under the supervision of a Refugee Services supervisor providing these major services:

    o Create pre-arrival files and make pre arrival referrals with all necessary documentation to ease post arrival services.

    o Welcome refugees at airport and support them to get to their new homes.

    o Provide timely post-arrival services to ensure that newly arriving refugees have living essentials to include food, housing and safety orientation.

    o Provide and support referrals to social security and welfare offices and health care provider.

    o Provide referrals to Employment and English as a Second Language(ESL) services.

    o Orient new refugees on public transportation system and new environment for their independence.

    o Conduct individualized self sufficiency plans for each family member of newly arriving refugees

    o Conduct cultural orientation (as prescribed ) to newly arriving refugees followed by assessments ( as prescribed).

    o Perform required home visits during the 90 days ( at least 4 visits)

    o Provide direct case management for newly-arrived refugees in accordance with resettlement guidelines

    Write and maintain accurate case notes and other documentation of services on-time.

    o Develops community contacts with other social service providers, including both mainstream providers and those that serve refugees exclusively

    Desired Qualifications

    o Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Humanities , Education or similar degrees

    o Three years or more of related applicable work experience and a demonstrated ability to effectively work with refugee and immigrant communities or diverse communities. Experience in working with diversity.

    o Flexibility and ability to work some evenings or weekends as needed.

    You will not be on call nor assigned to weekend duties, but there may be need to serve clients in emergencies which is not often.

    o Ability to have patience with interpretation services.

    o This position is a full time 40 hour/week post.

    · Ability to operate a computer and use a variety of common software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, PDF and customized databases.

    · Strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively communicate with individuals and groups.

    · Knowledge of basic client management procedures for determining eligibility, assessing needs, identifying resources, making referrals, following up, and documenting client interactions.

    · Ability to effectively understand and assess a client’s needs, perceptions, issues, and concerns and make sound decisions, referrals, and recommendation in the best interest of that client.

    · Ability to effectively conduct one-on-one advocacy and/or educational presentations.

    · Ability to work in a team structure – demonstrating ability to collaborate and contribute to the team’s work.

    · Ability to adhere to AJAPO’s staff Handbook Guidelines, Policies and Procedures.

    · Ability to attend all AJAPO’s in-house meetings/trainings and represent AJAPO at external meetings, training and conferences.

    Licensure:

    Valid Driver’s License, access to an insured auto and must be able to navigate the Greater Pittsburgh region and the surrounding area.

    Willingness to undergo Police, Act 33/34 and FBI finger Print screening.

    Attend Mandatory reporters training at start of hire.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Salary: $39,000 - $40,000 depending on experience.

    Benefits:

    · Retirement plan ( 3 % of pay each pay).

    · $30,000 Life Insurance (Fully paid by agency/employee does not contribute)

    · Long and short term insurances, (100% paid by agency)

    · Non contributory Health Plans ( our staff do not contribute to their health plans),

    · 12 days annual paid vacation, plus 13 days holidays,

    · One administrative day per week
