    ACCULTURATION FOR JUSTICE, ACCESS AND PEACE OUTREACH (AJAPO) EMPLOYMENT CASE MANAGER

    Founded in 2002, Acculturation for Justice, Access and Peace Outreach (AJAPO) works to improve the lives of refugees and immigrants from all over the world who resettle in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. We provide over 400 services to our clients annually assisting them to bring value and purpose to their lives as they re-start their individual/family lives in the United States.

    Joining AJAPO’s team brings you hands-on experience and direct opportunities to assist newly arriving refugees/immigrants to resolve many life changing challenges and the satisfaction that you got them there by mutual understanding, working together and your leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in inter-cultural social services. In addition to the specific duties and responsibilities shown below, the individual will have passion and commitment to welcoming immigrant populations into new communities, to building networks of supports for refugees and to building pathways that assist refugees to grow in citizenship.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Support non-English speaking clients with creating personalized resumes and job search for each client enrolled in the program.

    2. Assist clients complete and submit applications.

    3. Assist clients to Complete pre-employment paperwork.

    4. Escort clients to job interviews by public transportation

    5. Provide public transportation orientation for newly employed clients.

    6. Support Employment Program Manager with walk- in clients.

    7. Complete welfare benefits renewals.

    8. Complete SSI application forms for clients with disabilities

    9. Complete Public Housing application forms for clients desiring public housing

    10. Maintain detailed employment/case management notes in each cleints file updated on a weekly basis on Fridays.

    11. Attend staff meetings and trainings both within the agency and externally.

    12. Works on employment reports and tracking of clients progress

    Desired Qualifications

    o Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Humanities , Education or similar degrees

    o Three years or more of related applicable work experience and a demonstrated ability to effectively work with refugee and immigrant communities or diverse communities. Experience in working with diversity.

    o Flexibility and ability to work some evenings or weekends as needed.

    You will not be on call nor assigned to weekend duties, but there may be need to serve clients in emergencies which is not often.

    o Ability to have patience with interpretation services.

    o This position is a full time 40 hour/week post.

    Licensure:

    Valid Driver’s License, access to an insured auto and must be able to navigate the Greater Pittsburgh region and the surrounding area.

    Willingness to undergo Police, Act 33/34 and FBI finger Print screening.

    Attend Mandatory reporters training at start of hire.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Salary: $39,000 - $41,000 depending on experience.

    Benefits:

    • Retirement plan ( 3 % of pay each pay).

    • $30,000 Life Insurance

    • Non contributory Health Plans ( our staff do not contribute to their health plans),

    • 12 days annual paid vacation, plus 13 days holidays,

    • One administrative day per week
