    ACI Federal is currently seeking a Direct Service Associate to assist individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities within a hospital setting. You will work under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional and help patients meet their daily goals and build a fulfilling life through interactive activities and attentive monitoring. As a Direct Service Associate, we expect you to have compassion and strong interpersonal skills that will aid you in communicating, assisting with routine, and all around creating a safe and trusting environment for the many patients you will encounter. Furthermore, we expect you to be good-natured towards others and have effective problem-solving skills.

     

    JOB TYPE: Temporary (Full-Time Hours)

    PAY: $18.00 per hour

    SHIFT: 2nd (3PM-11PM), and 3rd (11PM-7AM) some holidays, some weekends, may work overtime possible 12 hour shifts

    DURATION: 13 week assignments (possible extension)

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Encourage individuals' participation in daily life (e.g. grooming, hygiene, dressing, eating, home maintenance, personal care and preparing meals)
    • Facilitate individuals' participation in leisure (e.g. relaxation, entertainment and personal interests)
    • Provide medical assistance (e.g., vital signs check, preserves medications)
    • Ensure safety of the patient and others (e.g. assist with transfers to safety, use of devices)
    • Support individuals' development of independent living skills (teach care providers about each individual's support needs)
    • Provide emotional support and participate in activities to prevent behavioral complications
    • Maintain daily logs to record details for reporting and communicate with staff regarding issues
    • Provide basic services that differ according to the individual's specific needs and preferences
    • Assist with community outings

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • MUST BE WITHIN A 60 MI RADIUS OF WILLIAMSBURG, VA 
    • A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license (REQUIRED)
    • At least 6+ months of Behavioral Health/Mental Health Field experience (REQUIRED)
    • Must pass a drug screening and background check (REQUIRED)
    • Must be COVID vaccinated or have medical or religious vaccination accommodation form (REQUIRED)
    • Specialized training in management of aggressive mental health behavior (REQUIRED)
    • Experience working directly with adult patients with challenging mental health and behavioral issues in a public, residential, psychiatric hospital, long term care facility, group home or forensic direct care (STRONGLY PREFERRED)
    • Previous psychology studies, behavioral health certifications, or CNA experience (STRONGLY PREFERRED)
