PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Medical Surgical/Progressive Care nurse will provide care to the hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on medical/surgical unit. This includes providing physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural support to the patient. Anticipated patient populations include but are not limited to pediatrics, pre and post PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis and a broad scope of surgical services. Staff will expect patients in relative stability while recognizing diagnoses may require skilled assessment and intervention tools for potential deteriorating conditions.

REGISTERED NURSE REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a registered nurse

• Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

• Excellent knowledge of emergency care

• In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination, etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times

• A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Responsible and compassionate

• Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills

• Patient with superb problem-solving skills

• BSc or another diploma from a nursing program

• Valid nursing license
