    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Degree/Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency. Must graduate from a state Board-accredited program and hold an unrestricted LVN/PN license.
    • Experience: One year of practical or vocational nurse experience in clinic, lab, or immunizations. Trainee Health Squadron (THLS) candidates are welcome. Strong computer skills are a must.
    • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.
    • Certifications: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

    Core Duties:

    • Initiate, Perform, and Complete Care: Provide exceptional care to variable patient populations, ensuring their well-being and satisfaction.
    • Navigate Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Skillfully use EMR software to order studies, medications, create lab labels, and generate armbands for a large population, ensuring accuracy.
    • Effective Documentation: Document nursing care in the ambulatory care setting efficiently and accurately.
    • Coordinate Patient Care: Collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes in clinical care, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Compliance with Standards: Adhere to established policies, procedures, and guidelines in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
    • Perform Procedures: Assist with various procedures, including administration of oxygen, visual acuity tests, EKGs, irrigation of eyes and ears, tympanograms, splinting, phlebotomy, and other clinic-specific procedures, following established protocols.
    • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and undergoes preventive maintenance as directed. Replenish medication and supplies as needed.
    • Orientation and Training: Participate in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel.
    • Flexibility in Shifts: May be required to work various shifts or provide clinical nursing support during the absence of other team nurses due to illness, leave, or deployment.
    • Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or clinical nurse specialists in patient care and education.
    • Referral Appointments: Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
    • Patient-Centered Care: Complete assigned patient care based on patients' conditions, using judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments.
    • Emergency Response: Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.

    Staffing and Scheduling:

    • Work shifts between 0600 – 1830, Monday through Friday.
    • Scheduled shifts at the discretion of the squadron commander, not exceeding 40 hours per week or 80 hours per two weeks.
    • Normal work schedules include 9-hour shifts, with a 1-hour non-paid lunch each day.
