  • Responsibilities

    PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION IS IN ANTICIPATION OF A VACANCY AWARD.

    This position will provide in-depth expertise and financial management services. Under broad supervision, oversees the accounting and financial operations of the project. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations.

    DUTIES:

    • Ensures project related logistic expenses are paid timely and accurately.
    • Reviews project expenditures and records and rectifies variances between eligibility and expenditures.
    • Provides financial reports and interprets financial information to executive staff while recommending further courses of action.
    • Develops trends and projections for the project’s finances.
    • Conducts reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
    • Oversees finance operations, sets goals and objectives and designs a framework for them to be successfully met.
    • Manages the preparation of the project’s budget and oversees its expenditures.
    • Liaises with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of the project’s finances is maintained.

    Required Skills

    • Working more than 40 hours per week may be required to meet project deadlines.
    • Physically able to participate and present in training sessions, presentations and meetings.
    • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, vendors or off-site personnel/management.

    Required Experience

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years of professional level experience in accounting and/or a closely related fiscal activity. Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus.

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • Proven work experience in accounting and finance management.
    • Strong proficiency in the use of finance software.
    • Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
    • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
    • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
    • Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus.
    • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.
    • Experiences providing or facilitating professional learning/training events.
