    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    The ACTIA Group with companies in 15 countries is a world leader in the development and commercialization of automotive electronics, including EV powertrains, Li-ion battery packs, and battery management systems (BMS). ACTIA offers power dense, fully integrated EV powertrains ranging from 50 to 180 kW and various battery packs of different chemistries ranging from 12V to >600V. ACTIA Corp, located in Elkhart, IN, is the site in North America responsible for supporting domestic customers and programs.

    ACTIA Corp is looking for a seasoned systems engineer who takes leadership to modify or design battery packs for customers’ hybrid and electric vehicle applications in a disciplined engineering environment. The role would include diagnostic support for service and various kinds of production support.

     

    REQUIRED DUTIES:

    • Work with customer and development team to analyze and document requirements for quote and development.
    • Perform battery pack design activities and provide technical guidance to all engineering disciplines (software, electrical, mechanical) through all phases of APQP development process, including DFMEA, prototyping, design for manufacturability (DFM), verification, and release to production. The emphasis in design will be on architectural and electrical aspects.
    • Develop test procedures and equipment for performing electrical product and component evaluations using cell cycling equipment and other diagnostic tools, both internally and in labs.
    • Support customer integration and validation of battery pack onsite when required.
    • Support program management in post-sourcing program reviews of hardware, software and systems.
    • Perform risk analysis on issues in the development of the product.
    • Support other departments such as Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Warranty/Service in battery-related tasks. Even though all departments including production are collocated in Elkhart, collaboration with sister companies is also frequently required.

    MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES

    • Maintain time records and project reports as required
    • Comply with work instructions and safety procedures.
    • Participate in process improvement.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • BS (MS or other advanced degree preferred) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related Engineering field

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • 4 or more years of experience in automotive industry with hybrid and/or electric vehicles.
    • 4 or more years of experience in battery pack development. Familiarity with performance, quality, safety, and manufacturability considerations is important.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Experience with high voltage and high capacity lithium ion battery systems (LTO and NMC preferred).
    • Experience specifying and setting up tests with cyclers and other diagnostic equipment.
    • Experience with BMS software control algorithms and hardware design preferred.
    • Experience with power electronics preferred.
    • Hands on experience with tools and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, and diagnostics and analysis software to perform standardized certification testing.

    TRAVEL: Occasional travel to customers and vendors, with possible overnight stays, may be required.
