An Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) , is an entry-level position for individuals pursuing careers in substance abuse counseling. ADTs provide counseling and case management services under supervision, often focusing on clients with less complex substance use disorders. They learn to assess clients, develop treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct initial assessments and evaluations to determine a client's substance use disorder and eligibility for services.
Treatment Planning:
Develop and implement individual treatment plans, working with clients to set goals and create strategies for recovery.
Individual and Group Counseling:
Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients, utilizing evidence-based techniques.
Case Management:
Maintain a caseload of clients, monitor their progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaboration:
Work with other healthcare professionals and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care.
Education and Support:
Educate clients and their families about substance use disorders, treatment options, and recovery resources.
Supervision:
Receive supervision from an experienced alcohol and drug professional counselor supervisor.
Compliance:
Adhere to relevant regulations, including COMAR and CARF Accreditation Standard
