    Job Description

    ADT SOLAR is currently looking for a QC & FIELD DEVELOPMENT FOREMAN to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for visiting assigned territory locations, within a specified region, to develop a trusted and positive partnership with Solar Foremen, Lead Solar Installers, and their crew members; to provide guidance and training on established quality and safety solar panel installation standards as defined the company and regulatory agencies. You will be expected to lead by example, educate, and create positive working relationships with the Solar Foremen, Lead Installers, and their crew members to assist in lowering and maintaining Install Day Errors to certain percentages, according to established standards, in assigned region/territories, including newly established territories. He/she will also be expected to install in the territories that they travel into, to accomplish this, and will be required to travel to assigned regions/territories to personally work on projects as a functioning team member so that he/she can demonstrate and train the Solar Foremen on proper installation of solar panels. Additionally, you will perform in-process work and safety surveillances/audits to identify any areas of non-compliance to the established quality and safety standards and provide clear direction, demonstration, and training on such. Daily check-ins and communication with the QC Senior Field Development Foreman is required to address any problems and determine solutions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure that the Solar Foremen and Lead Solar Installers in their assigned region/territories are trained on the proper way to manage their crews on installations, customer etiquette and that they are adhering to established quality and safety standards.
    • Responsible for demonstrating work team safety/quality and all work practices performed.
    • Required to review projects with the installation team prior to install to develop and communicate a safety/quality preparation plan which identifies all risks and determine which equipment and methods will be used to ensure that there are no safety accidents or quality incidents.
    • Work with the Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers to demonstrate how to conduct a proper tailgate safety meeting and discuss the install and prepare a JHA/safety plan to ensure that all employees have the training, equipment and preparation needed to complete the work according to established quality and safety standards.
    • Ensure personal availability to oversee the work activities and answer questions or provide training to avoid safety or quality incidents.
    • Demonstrate/educate Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers on the appropriate steps to take if a safety accident or quality incident occurs on the site to properly contain and address the incident, determine the cause, and ensure that people and property issues are rectified/communicated in a timely manner to the appropriate people/departments.
    • Responsible for observing and capturing any lessons learned and working to reduce the potential of incidents and injuries with Territory Operations Managers, Coordinators, Installers etc.
    • Partner with assigned Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers and provide guidance and education on how to properly review, plan, and prepare for install projects in advance. Must lead by example and demonstrate how to empower the crew’s ability to meet customer requirements, project schedule, cost, quality, and safety per established standards prior to and on the day of install.
    • Meet with the Territory Operations Managers and Warehouse Managers to prepare for install projects the week/day before to ensure that all materials, procedures, and project requirements are ready prior to kick off the project install date.
    • Work with Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers and demonstrate how to layout daily work for install crew(s) and to plan the preceding day(s) work schedule and requirements.
    • Demonstrate how to positively facilitate daily shop meetings to assign work, discuss production needs and to always ensure safety is a priority for the team.
    • Kick off the project work with the Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers the day of project to ensure that the team has met all the requirements to execute the work properly and safely.
    • Required to run daily “Tailgate” project meetings to ensure safety, work assignments and the proper planning is done before starting work.
    • Educate Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers on how to effectively oversee the team’s workload while ensuring safe work practices and quality installs, repairs, and craftsmanship.
    • Demonstrate the expectation of the Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers to properly “sign off” on all install steps once they have been completed and make sure the project is documented, complete and accurate.
    • Provide guidance and education to drive and ensure that all installations and crews execute project schedules daily. Confirm that the Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers are being accountable for ensuring the site and install teams follow procedures, processes, and methods to ensure install quality and safety at all phases of the project according to established standards.
    • Provide guidance to TOM/Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers on performance and production schedule to ensure daily workplan completion.
    • Observe crew member task(s) to ensure quality of craftsmanship and provide direction as needed.
    • Working with Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers, oversee site safety and quality to ensure job standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
    • Train and coach crew members on project tasks as needed.
    • Ensure that all production schedules are on track for completion on time.
    • Escalate all crew member personnel issues to Territory Operations Manager as appropriate.
    • Work with Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers to coordinate project task(s) with customer and verify layout design before beginning the work.
    • Working with Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers, review all project changes and requests with Territory Operations Manager if requested by the customer.
    • Demonstrate and educate the entire crew on the importance of ensuring the property is clean and free of construction waste and secure every day before, during, and after leaving the customers property.
    • Accountable for ensuring the site and install teams follow procedures, processes, and methods to ensure install quality and safety at all phases of the project(s). Responsible for ensuring that the Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers are driving all installations and team members, so they are executing daily installs to established quality and safety standards and qualifications in a timely manner. Responsible for looking at every install photo and signing off for the crew to leave the site.
    • Must perform on site spot checks and safety checks.
    • Responsible for continuous observation, demonstration and education of work team safety/quality and all work practices performed and reporting resistance and/or non-compliance to Territory Operations Manager and/or QC Senior Field Development Foreman.

    POST INSTALLATION FOLLOW UP/CASE REVIEW

    Responsible for partnering with assigned Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers to document and manage all case follow ups (if required) to ensure total install quality and customer satisfaction.

    WORKFORCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

    Accountable for the direct training and development of the workforce in their assigned territory to increase work crew capability to meet project metrics and schedules. Continuously looks for and advises on ways to improve work methods and processes to enable the installation crews to meet all quality, safety, schedule, and cost requirements.

    PERSONAL PROJECT PRODUCTION

    Accountable for directly working on projects and partnering with Solar Foremen/Lead Solar Installers and their crew(s) to ensure personal work contribution and coordination of each crew member.

    **THIS IS A NON-SUPERVISORY ROLE. THE QC & FIELD DEVELOPMENT FORMAN IS TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND IS AUTHORIZED TO TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO CARRY OUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES ASSIGNED BY THE DIRECTOR OF QC AND FIELD DEVELOPMENT SO LONG AS SUCH ACTION DOES NOT DEVIATE FROM ESTABLISHED POLICIES AND REPRESENTS SOUND BUSINESS JUDGMENT. **

    PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION:

    PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SKILLS: Must be of the highest integrity, in good health and with personal habits above reproach. Must be able to practice sound judgment. Must have the ability to meet and work effectively and positively with people of varying levels of education and experience and to be able to communicate with the same.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school degree or equivalent

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3+ years successfully working as a Solar Foreman/Lead Installer in the solar industry, preferably at ADT Solar.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates primarily in the field in outdoor elements, and occasionally in a professional office environment. Routinely uses various hand tools, power tools, ladders, and safety equipment.

    TRAVEL: This position requires travel to various, assigned Sunpro Solar territories 75% to 100% of the time. Must maintain a clean driving record and appropriate identification for travel.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee will be required to fly or drive long distances. The employee is frequently required to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; regularly climb or balance; and frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work at high elevations on buildings, homes, and roofs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in varying weather conditions including rain, wind, cold temperatures, and extreme heat.
