Our client is seeking a Lead Roadway Engineer to lead our Peoria, IL roadway design team. Our new team member will be expected to take a leading role in the advancement of our client’s technical abilities in the field of transportation engineering and serve as a technical leader for a broad variety of transportation engineering projects.  Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

This person is expected to work as part of multidisciplinary design teams to plan and execute transportation projects for a variety of clients including local governments, state departments of transportation, and private industry throughout Illinois and beyond. Projects are likely to include the reconstruction of major urban thoroughfares, complete streets, road diets, green infrastructure, urban and rural bridge replacements, multiuse paths, and rail grade crossings. The position requires the ability to serve as a key member of the project design team providing direction and supervision to junior-level staff in all areas of roadway design.

Responsibilities:

• Managing and developing local roadway staff
• Preparation of construction documents for urban and rural roadway projects
• As a member of the Roadway Discipline, provide technical support to all markets
• Preparation and review of complex design calculations
• Interact with Clients to discuss existing and future projects
• Working with local governments and DOT’s to deliver projects
• Preparation of project scope and budget for related tasks
• Delivering roadway design tasks on time and within budget

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering is required
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the transportation engineering field 
• Professional Engineer license (IL) or ability to reciprocate from another state within 6 months
• Experience with evaluating and designing projects using ADA/PROWAG requirements is desired
• Working knowledge of IDOT Local Roads and BDE design procedures
