    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an UNDERGROUND DISTRIBUTION ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to support engineering and design projects under a strategic underground program in our San Diego, or Los Angeles offices. This team works on a variety of energy efficiency, resilience, and decarbonization initiatives for municipal, utility, and commercial and industrial clients. This position will perform technical tasks on a variety of projects including energy efficiency, distributed generation, renewable energy, energy master planning, district energy systems, net-zero buildings, monitoring base commissioning, grid-interactive buildings, and building decarbonization. The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of medium voltage underground utility distribution design and construction. The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:  

    • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
    • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
    • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
    • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
    • Identifies discrepancies in results.
    • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
    • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
    • elements for engineering works.
    • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
    • 4 years of relevant experience, including medium voltage underground utility distribution design and construction
    • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Advanced degree preferred
    • Consulting experience preferred
    • Fluency with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Excel
    • Experience on large, multi-discipline projects and programs
    • Proficiency in engineering analysis and modeling software
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • MicroStation experience
    • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines.
