    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Interior Designer to be based in Kansas City, MO.

    Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create.

    Our Kansas City studio focuses on the Sports Venues, which encompasses everything from performance and development facilities to primary competition venues, ranging anywhere from small collegiate clients to the largest of professional leagues and franchises. We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, equity, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget.

    Some of our recent projects include Intuit Dome, the most technologically advanced sports arena ever designed, and Foster Pavilion, a transformative new arena that will bolster the landscape of the University of Baylor campus, and University of Central Florida football campus upgrades that will propel UCF into a new athletic conference.

    Job Summary/Responsibilities
    As an AECOM senior interior designer, your role will be to leverage creativity and technical expertise to design innovative, functional, and human-centered spaces for local, national, and international clients.

    Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead interior design efforts on all project phases including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration with focus on sports projects.
    • Collaborate with project principal, project manager, architectural and engineering disciplines, and outside consultants to achieve client’s objectives on-budget and on-schedule with diverse project team.
    • Projects vary in scale and include many large scale projects.
    • Experience in coordinating quality of design product throughout the project phases
    • Attend on-site client meetings or construction administration activities requiring periodic local, regional, or national travel.
    • Interior architectural design, programming, and space planning.
    • Interior finish concepts, selections, specifications, and plans.
    • Planning, selection, specification and documentation of furniture, furnishings, and lighting.
    • Preparation of plans, elevations, and design presentation documentation.
    • Review contractor-submitted drawings and finish samples.
    • Support client relationships though effective communication and follow-up.
    • Nurture existing and new client relationships
    • Participate in business development activities including representing Interiors discipline on project interviews.
    • Mentor and supervise junior interior design staff.
    • Guide junior staff in maintaining resource library content.
    • Contribute to office research, innovation and learning initiatives.
    • Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline leaders.
    • Under direct supervision, may complete design assignments of some complexity.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements :

    • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design or related field + 4 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success as a project designer on a range of interiors project types or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    • Experience with all phases of the project, including pre-design through construction administration.
    • Experience in documenting FF+E specifications and experience establishing budget and monitor procurement process of FF+E working with major manufacturer dealers.
    • Experienced in maintaining and building new client relationships.
    • Working knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures.
    • Experience in collegiate and/or professional sports and hospitality a plus.
    • Proficiency in REVIT, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-up or other 3D modeling software.
    • Strong planning ability preferred.
    • REVIT skills are highly valued.
    • RA, NCIDQ or CID preferred.
    • LEED Accreditation preferred.
