    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern to be based in Orange, CA. 

    This position is expected to begin in June 2023.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks related to municipal wastewater treatment design and construction administration activities. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
    • Work under supervision of a project manager, contract administrator and/or senior-level team member
    • Participate in contract administration services during the construction of wastewater infrastructure and facilities.
    • Perform municipal wastewater treatment plant site investigations, data collection and analysis activities.
    • Prepare technical memoranda, contribute to preliminary and detailed design reports.
    • Prepare permitting applications for local regulatory agencies.
    • Participate in wastewater engineering/process design activities including preparation of design calculations, equipment sizing and selection, process layouts, engineering specifications and cost estimates.
    • Work collaboratively on multidisciplinary design teams and assist with coordination tasks.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering
    • Must have a Valid U.S Driver’s License
    • Completion of one year of qualified study

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering
    • Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn
    • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment
    • Knowledge of treatment processes and hydraulic engineering concepts through coursework or work experience
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
    • Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Strong logic skills and writing skills
    • Good communication skills
    • Documents time and effort accurately

    Additional Information

    • Relocation is not available for this position.

    • Candidates may be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening, drug test, and/or medical surveillance screening upon hire.
    • Non-Exempt Positions: Offered rate of compensation (CA) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $28-33 per hour.
