    AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to be based in New York or New Jersey. This position is expected to begin in June 2023. The AECOM Remediation Practice is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Remediation team based in New York City.  

    We are seeking candidates who wish to establish a career in civil or environmental engineering, specific to remediation projects. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about environmental remediation, and passionate about pursuing a career focused on remedial oversight and construction management.  This is a field-based role comprising approximately 80% field work and 20% office-based work.  The candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across the New York Metropolitan area.

    This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel, and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team. Note this role may require travel outside of the New York Metropolitan area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States.

    The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from project managers. Field work may include soil, sediment, surface water, and/or groundwater sampling, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management. Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required. Performing work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision. Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications. Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders. Receiving, reviewing, and submitting documents for approval (Submittals/ RFIs/ etc.) Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks as needed. Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental engineering.
    • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
    • Valid Driver’s License is required for this position. Motor vehicle records may be requested

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
    • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification.
    • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS and, Bluebeam).
    • Experience with construction documentation, construction management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

    Relocation is not available for this position.

    Offered rate of compensation (New York City locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70-99k
