    Job Description

    WE ARE SEEKING A TALENTED INDIVIDUAL TO ASSIST WITH OR CONDUCT A WIDE VARIETY OF ASSIGNMENTS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • .
    • Perform assignments requiring interpretation and application of federal, State, and local environmental regulations
    • Assist with wildlife and botanical surveys, including vegetation mapping, under supervision of a project manager or senior-level technical team member
    • Wetland delineations
    • Authoring and preparing technical reports
    • Environmental compliance monitoring, including coordinating with project managers, engineers, construction contractors and conducting worker environmental awareness programs
    • Data collection, entry, interpretation, and analysis
    • Applicant must be available and willing to work out of town on occasion
    • Perform other related duties assigned, such as coordination with team members, scheduling of work etc.

    ADDITIONAL WORK OR OPPORTUNITIES FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT MAY INCLUDE:

    • Preparing biological resources sections of CEQA and NEPA documents
    • Preparing and implementing mitigation, restoration, and monitoring plans
    • Sensitive species permitting (e.g., ESA Section 7 biological assessments)
    • Wetlands permitting (e.g., CWA Section 404 and 401, DFG Section 1600)
    • Tree inventories and arborist surveys

    THE QUALIFIED APPLICANT MUST HAVE:

    • Bachelor's Degree in related field and 1-2+ years of experience for entry level, 5+ for mid-level

    • Training in relevant biological disciplines (e.g., wildlife, plants, wetland ecology, fisheries, herpetology, or entomology)

    • Basic or working knowledge of California flora and fauna

    • Ability to map vegetation communities and identify sensitive habitat types

    • Familiarity with major environmental regulations and permitting

    • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent writing and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

    • Attitude and demeanor compatible with collaborative team efforts

    • Ability to professionally interact with clients and resource agency representatives

    • Ability and desire to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions on field assignments ranging from a few days to weeks at a time

      APPLICANT MUST BE AVAILABLE AND WILLING TO WORK OUT OF TOWN ON OCCASION. SOME WEEKEND WORK MAY BE REQUIRED.

      PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    • Strong field skills

    • Endangered species survey/handling experience

    • Wetland delineation

    • Experience working with construction crews and field engineers

    • Basic knowledge of GIS software and GPS equipment

    • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Collector, or other computer programs to enter, summarize, and analyze data
