    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a mid-level, Biologist II to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting Group of our Phoenix, AZ or Tucson, AZ offices. This position would support numerous natural resource projects in Arizona and the Southwest United States region including management of technical work on biological surveys and compliance and permitting projects.

    Primary duties include general or focused biological surveys for wildlife, plants, and/or vegetation, electronic data collection, and preparation of technical reports. Additional duties may include desktop analysis, conservation plans, and habitat management plans, or assisting with other natural resources related field surveys (i.e. aquatic resource surveys, general constraints surveys).

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Perform desktop and field assignments that require background in wildlife ecology and/or botany and ecological processes.
    • Conduct biological survey fieldwork as part of a team in inland, and desert environments, which can include rugged terrain.
    • Identify and record native and non-native fauna and/or flora in field.
    • Utilize electronic data collection methods and manage data, as needed.
    • Support writing assignments, including completing survey reports, Biological Technical Reports, Mitigation and Monitoring Plans, Biological Assessments, and/or EIR/EIS sections.
    • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
    • Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.
    • Occasional travel may be required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (biology, ecology, or project management/controls).
    • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in natural resources/project management.
    • Valid Driver's license required and must be able to safely drive to job sites.

    Preferred Skills/Experience:

    • Master’s Degree in related field (biology, ecology, or project management/controls) preferred plus 4 years of relevant experience.
    • Wetland Delineation experience.
    • Experience working on projects in Arizona.
    • Experience with protocol wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, and/or wildlife tracking.
    • Data management experience, including electronic data collection in field; managing large data sets.
    • Ability to work in a high-paced environment where changing client priorities result in the need to determine creative ways to get the job done.
    • Candidate must be flexible and willing to support multiple projects.

    Additional Information

    • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
    • Offered rate of compensation (Arizona locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $55,000.00 - $65,000.00.
