    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a SCIENCE INTERN to be based in Orlando, FL.

    This position is expected to begin in January 2023.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Gathering, organizing, and analyzing field data to be used in the preparation of scientific reports 
    • Conducting environmental impact assessments and field surveys for rare, threatened, or endangered species and their habitats
    • Conducting habitat assessments and vegetation classifications, including wetland delineations
    • Preparing high-quality technical reports and environmental permit application packages
    • May require working long field days outdoors, sometimes under rigorous conditions (e.g., hot and/or rainy weather, remote areas, in a variety of habitats)

     

  • Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Pursuing a degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, or other closely related field
    • Must have completed one (1) year of study
    • Must possess a valid driver's license

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience with field data collection, data review, and preparation of technical documents 
    • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state environmental laws and regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA, etc.) as they relate to biological resource impacts and environmental permitting 
    • Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail, good time-use skills, and ability to work in a team environment
    • Excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities
    • Ability to handle the demands of multiple priorities for various clients and projects
    • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills
    • Must be a self-starter and motivated in producing high-quality results 
    • Must be proficient with MS Office applications
    • Willingness and availability to travel occasionally (within Florida)

    • Relocation is not available for this position.
    • Sponsorship is available for this position.
    • Candidates may be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening, and/or medical surveillance screening upon hire.
