    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Architectural Designer based in proximity to our Boston, MA office to work on our ongoing multi-year project. The project requires the position of a technical captain to join a team of various professionals who are tasked to implement multiple designs for a new fare collection system in all transit systems of Boston. Transit projects include architectural planning and design of public spaces and implementing the necessary infrastructure from early conceptual phases design through construction phases.

    Job Summary/Responsibilities

    • Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
    • Follows instructions to accomplish task assigned by senior staff.
    • Meets required schedules while producing quality work.
    • Working closely with a Senior Architect / Project Manager, independently preparing and presenting client focused design solutions to project team members
    • Preparing contract drawings during all design phases
    • May coordinate and collaborate in activities with employees in other disciplines and departments, internally and externally
    • Prepare designs, renderings, sketches, diagrams, schematic and working drawings to illustrate design solutions
    • Develop and document details to communicate design intent
    • Edit specifications with oversight from Senior Architect
    • Develop, adapt, or modify design features and details under the direction of a project manager, project designer, or project architect
    • Select and specify finish materials
    • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
    • Participate in preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
    • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
    • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
    • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.
    • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
    • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD in a professional environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master of Architecture/Licensure (RA) strongly preferred
    • 8+ years of architectural design experience
    • Proficient with Revit, Bluebeam, BIM desirable
    • Experience with the pace and tempo of architectural teamwork, both remote/cloud-based and in-person
    • OSHA 10 Training/Certification
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Strong communication skills
