    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Transit Planning Intern to be based in Dallas, TX.

    _ JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:_

    • Conducting research, data reviews, and analysis to inform transportation decision-making and determine potential environmental effects
    • Interprets and compares findings of relevant studies for compliance with local, state, and Federal requirements, standard procedures, and client expectations.
    • Assist with the preparation of comprehensive plans, transportation reports or memorandums
    • Collects a variety of technical and statistical data and assists with the preparation of reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, and the natural environment.
    • Assist with GIS mapping tasks and analysis of socioeconomic, land use and development, environmental impacts, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts
    • Develop supporting figures using a variety of graphical tools including Adobe products, mapping software, Excel charts, and/or PowerPoint
    • Support research and technical analyses on land use and multimodal planning
    • Supports agency stakeholder and public engagement efforts.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
    • Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers.

    _ MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:_

    • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or a related field with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
    • Candidates must have completed 1 year of study in their program.

    _ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:_

    • Pursuing a BA/BS or other postgraduate degree in Planning, Geography, GIS, Public Policy or related field.
    • Strong technical writing skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth, and/or other geographic software
    • Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills
    • Coursework and/or project experience in transit service planning, finance, transportation planning, GIS and/or data analysis
    • Experience in preparing graphics and visuals
    • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical skills

    Additional Information

    • Relocation is not available for this position.
    • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • Offered rate of compensation (Texas locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $16.52/hr.-$28.90/hr.
