Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a motivated Geotechnical Intern for fulltime summer employment in our Murray, Utah office.

This position is expected to begin in April 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Work under supervision of junior and senior-level geotechnical engineers.
• Provide geotechnical engineering and design support for dams and levees, highways, railways, buildings, and other projects as needed.
• Conduct field exploration, collect samples, and review geotechnical samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform geotechnical analyses using computer programs, including Excel, gINT, GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W), UTEXAS, Settle3, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Visual Basic.
• Build trust in relationships with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
• Candidates must have completed three years of study in their program.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
• As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree emphasis on geotechnical engineering.
• Completed Introduction to Soil Mechanics course, or equivalent.
• Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Familiarity working in geotechnical software, including Excel, gINT, GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W), UTEXAS, Settle3, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Visual Basic
• Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Proficiency working in Excel and Word.

• The offered rate of compensation (Utah locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr.
