Job Description

AECOM is seeking a GIS Intern to be based in Austin, Texas.

This position is expected to begin May 1 and end August 30, 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
• Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing an Associate’s Degree or higher in Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
• Candidates must have completed one year of study in their program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Courses completed include Intro to GIS, Spatial Analysis, Spatial Data, and/or Intro to Geomatics.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
• Basic knowledge in Python, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML.
• Ability to work well with others both internally and externally.

Additional Information

• Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not available for this position.
• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
• The selected candidate must be available to work in the Austin, TX office on a scheduled basis.
• Offered rate of compensation ( Texas locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
