    Job Description

    AECOM is looking for a mid-level ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to join our Rail and Transit team at our OAKLAND, CA Office.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The candidate will be responsible for producing electrical and traction power construction documents for transit system and facilities such as BART and Caltrain. Under a Senior Engineer’s supervision, you will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists across rail systems disciplines (systems engineering, signals, electrification systems, and project Controls), project managers, systems engineers, signals engineers, analysts, and coordinators.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The primary role of this position is to prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with traction power and facilities for electrified railways AC and DC system, as well as other transportation-related projects
    • Ensure all design elements are compliant with the relevant rail operation rules, all applicable industry codes and standards, and client expectations
    • Prepare and guide drafters/designers and junior engineers in creating one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing drawings, substation physical layouts, and selection of MV/LV electrical equipment
    • Interact with clients to discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner
    • Facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues
    • Work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff
    • Other duties as assigned/required.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited education program
    • Engineer-in Training (EIT) certified
    • Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units
    • Experience in different Phases of the Engineering Design Life
    • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio-Strong AutoCAD skills
    • Ability to use power system analysis tools such as SKM and ETAP
    • Able to travel domestically or internationally to support proposals, projects and Client’s needs
    • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70   ​​​​​

    • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $76,329.3 - $141,209.21
