    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a GIS Intern to be based in Murray, Utah.

    This position is expected to begin in June 2023.

    The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate experience utilizing Geographic Information Systems with an emphasis on surface water applications. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects in a highly collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will coordinate with other members of the GIS team and various project managers while working on multiple concurrent projects including watershed studies; Flood Insurance Rate Map Production under FEMA’s Risk MAP Program; technical GIS support for engineering and environmental siting studies and impact analyses; database and form design; web and mobile GIS solutions and applications; and geospatial data management using ESRI ArcSDE/ArcGIS Server on a wide variety of environmental and engineering projects.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information
    • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes
    • GIS analysis and map production for a wide variety of engineering and environmental projects with an emphasis on surface water applications
    • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components
    • Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients
    • Lead project specific tasks while working closely with project team to meet client deadlines
    • Maintain an effective and frequent line of communication amongst team members and clients
    • Data collection, creation, conversion, and editing
    • Geoprocessing
    • GIS data interpretation and analysis
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Watershed Science or other related field with a strong emphasis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
    • Must have completed two (2) years of study

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products
    • Strong understanding of spatial data
    • Ability to track production efforts on multiple projects
    • Detail oriented
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
    • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced team environment
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products
    • Strong understanding of spatial data
    • Ability to track production efforts on multiple projects
